Final words by Poverty Truth Community researcher and member, Carole Turner

Final words (for now)

We brought individual stories and images together and we have woven them into a digital quilt. It's told a story, which has no end. Only more can be added to it over the years, and I really do hope that more does get added, more voices of now and for future generations.

I don't think any one image or story would make the same impact. It's got a natural beginning, a middle, and it's not really got an end. It's an ongoing moment captured with stories, intertwined and powerful.

When you take a look through it and see what stuck out for you, go over it, and then maybe ask yourself some questions. What's my story? Even go through it with somebody with a cup of tea, like when you're at your granny's and you're sitting down, nice and comfortable, and you're getting told a wee story with images.

There's stories of privilege, expectation, hope, welcome, hospitality, friendships, creativity, and many more. From the real experts in poverty. It's a lovely read, and it's a wonderful feeling of love and hospitality, warmth and love and compassion. Although I know a few of the community, I got to know them even deeper and more personally by reading their stories.

I really hope that people learn how vital this work is and how each individual has contributed even more so now in the times we're living in. I hope it carries on and continues. A kind word or 'come on in, come in and see your granny.' This tone and welcome has saved many spirits.

The quilt is a great image, but the all important welcome and cup of tea stands out for me.
