I picked a sheet of paper that was absolutely beautiful, a lovely blue with leaves on it and I began to rip it into small pieces. I was thinking about ‘What does the PTC feel like to you?’  In a way it feels like this, it’s all these little bits, it’s all these people.

Sometimes when I talk about my job I talk about it as holding something.  Because the community is yours, it’s your movement that is moving, moving and I’m just kind of helping you keep it in one place. So all those bits of paper are that.

I made up the picture as I went along because that’s kind of what’s happened with Poverty Truth. When we began we didn’t think we’d be sitting here all these years later, we didn’t think there would be four Commissions and then all the work in the Community that we’ve done.  There’s a strength and a colour in it all that kept it all together.

The gold is round it because there’s just something that shines, shines through. I find when I’m looking at our archive stuff, there’s a quote from somebody that said ‘Poverty Truth is where the light shines through’ and I suppose that’s still in my head.

And then I started to paste some words on that are transparent so they’re really, really faint but I’ve got with, for, are, will, be, and here. Words that feel important. Then a wee splash of colour from the flowers. It kind of doesn’t really tell a coherent story, but it tells a good one.
